This anime was cold...literally....
That was lame... My fault...
The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague is about a woman named Fuyutsuki, who comes across a random guy frozen at the legs while on her way to her new job. Turns out that every time he feels an emotion strongly he freezes things and creates winter like situations. Fuyutsuki takes time to help melt the ice and goes on her way until she meets the same guy at her new job, who also happens to be working for the same company in the same department. Thus, starting a new relationship journey with two characters who are extremely similar, but also weirdly opposite.
This first episode took me a little bit to get into. I found myself questioning if I was actually into it, or if I was just pushing through just to say I gave it a try. By the time we reached the mid way point, I found myself smiling and vibing with the cast. I couldn't help but love this weirdly nonchalant character who has little reaction to almost everything. With the little emotional reactions we get, it makes me excited to watch Fuyutsuki blossom into a completely different person. I have a feeling that will be the most rewarding part of this watch journey. Plus, it creates an interesting dynamic with Himuro who is a little more open with his emotions. He tries hard to play it cool, but can't help himself when he starts to get heated up. It's a fun and quirky character trait that I really enjoyed and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
I think something that took me out of the show a bit was the art style and animation. This isn't a show that needs to be the most amazing looking or have incredible animation, but I did find myself wishing the quality was a little higher. The art and animation felt a tiny bit flat to me and caused me to lose interest at times. This was especially apparent when Himuro would have icy moments to help express what type of feeling he is experiencing. There were only a few times the ice element looked good and felt cold. Most of the time, it was a little underwhelming. I'm hoping that changes in the future, or that the other elements of this series makes up for the lack of appealing visuals.
Overall, I'm looking forward to continuing this series weekly! I think it can be a lot of fun, interesting, and I have a feeling I am going to get pretty attached these characters. I'm not expecting any real drama for this anime. It doesn't feel like it would go that route, but I won't be mad if it does. Every series could use a little drama. *shrug* I think the main thing I want is a really believable relationship dynamic with Fuyutsuki and Himuro. I really want their relationship to progress, but have a few ups and downs that feel real and relatable. We'll see what happens! Did you watch the first episode of The Ice Guy And His Cool Female Colleague? Comment your thoughts! Thanks for stopping by! Peace.
